How to replace the filter in the CuZn TurboShower

Hint: Some older models of the TurboShower are difficult to open. We have found several solutions. The easiest is to buy our set of TurboShower filter wrenches (sorry to say they are not available yet, but they will be very soon.)

The next best approach is to use an object such as a dinner knife to tap around the edges until the encrusting lime ldeposits are cracked enough to turn the housing halves.

You might also stop by an aout parts store and pick up a couple of oil filter wrenches.

1. Remove the TurboShower from the shower arm and twist counter-clockwise to open. The filter opens in the middle. (Soaking the unit in boiling water for approximately 20 seconds usually frees hard-to-open units. Use rubber gloves to protect againt getting burned.)

2. Recycle or discard the used Power Disk and discard the white filter pad and old O-ring.

3. Rinse both halves of the filter housing and wipe carefully to remove lime build up and other filtered debris.

4. Apply petroleum jelly to the threads on both halves of the housing and the new O-ring.

5. Place the new white filter pad on top of the gold Power Disk, then place them, filter pad up, in the bottom half of the housing. Put the halves together and turn clockwise to tighten. Hand tighten securely.

6. When reassembling the TurboShower, you may reach a point when screwing the halves together that you think they are as tight as they can get, but you can probably make one more full turn. When the TurboShower is properly sealed, you won’t be able to see the black O-ring and the halves will be touching.

7. Use some of the supplied Teflon tape to wrap the outlet spout on the bottom half and re-install your shower head. Cover the threads on the shower arm with the Teflon tape, also.

8. Re-attach the TurboShower unit to the shower arm pipe. Test for leaks. If the unit leaks between the halves, you need to remove the unit from the shower arm an tighten it just a little bit more.

9. Run hot water through the filter for three minutes to activate the Power Disk filtering media.
